Congressman Ronald Singson was granted bail for HK$1 million, and surety bond amounting to HK$1 million, for a total of HK$2M or P12 million. Wow! that’s a huge amount of money, I can buy a house, car, and I can have a vacation with that money!
His father, Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson paid HK$1 million. The surety bond worth HK$1 million was reportedly paid by two Chinese friends of Rep. Singson.
He was was temporarily released from jail after Hong Kong investigators found out that the actual weight of pure cocaine seized from Singson at Chek Lap Kok International Airport on July 11 was 6.7 grams and not 26.1 grams.
Ronald Singson was not allowed to leave Hong Kong. He must also report to the police every day. Hearing will resume on September 7.
They would be asking the court to downgrade his charges from illegal “drug trafficking” to “possession.” If the charges are downgraded, Rep. Ronald Singson faces up to five years imprisonment if found guilty as opposed to up to ten years.
