Lady Gaga went home with a bigger grin on her face after sweeping eight awards from her 13 nominations in the recently concluded MTV Video Music Awards 2010. She got the Best Video of the Year for her video “Bad Romance.” Eight-time nominee Eminem opened the show and won a pair of awards for his video “Not Afraid.” MTV Video Music Awards 2010 was held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday September 12.
Lady Gaga also announced on stage that the follow-up to her breakthrough album “The Fame” would be called “Born This Way.”
Taylor Swift went home empty-handed this year, but performed on stage her new song titled “Innocent” for Kanye West.
Her song was inspired by last year’s VMA incident werein Kanye West interrupts Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech after winning the best female video award insisting that the award should go to Beyonce. Taylor Swift could have taken revenge during her performance, but instead of criticizing Kanye West she sympathize with him with her lyrics: “Thirty-two and still growing up now; who you are is not what you did,” “You’re still an innocent.” “It’s all right, just wait and see. Your string of lights is still bright to me. You’re still an innocent.” The song is included in Taylor Swift‘s new album “Speak Now.”
Justin Bieber was named best new artist for his “Baby,” featuring rapper Ludacris.
