International weather forecasting agencies revealed that a tropical storm with international name “Megi” is making its way towards Northern Luzon and could make a landfall either Monday or Tuesday. It is estimated to develop into a strong typhoon and will be named Tropical Storm Juan if it enters the Philippine area of responsibility.

According to PAGASA, the storm is still too far to affect the country;
As of 8:00 a.m. today, the Tropical Storm with international name “MEGI” over the Pacific Ocean was estimated at 1,600 km East of Southern Luzon (12.6°N, 140.0°E) with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is moving west northwest slowly. This weather disturbance is still too far to affect any part of the country. Meanwhile, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 350 km East Southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar (10.0°N, 129.0°E) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao bringing mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over these areas.
