Viacom’s Paramount Pictures has made offers with the original producers of the 1986 action hit Top Gun to make Top Gun 2. The original hit aviation movie stars Tom Cruise as the iconic hero Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.
David Ellison, son of Oracle founder and world’s sixth-richest man Larry Ellison, raised $350 million to finance films and struck a deal with Paramount. Inspired by Top Gun, David Ellison became a trained aerobatic pilot and now he wants to produce Top Gun 2.
According to reports, Tom Cruise is expected to make an appearance as Maverick in Top Gun 2. The sequels screenplay is rumored to have Cruise’s character Maverick in a smaller role.
