Taylor Swift has released the tracklist for her forthcoming album “Speak Now” and fans are guessing who or what event inspired Taylor to write each song on her new album. Taylor Swift is known for writing songs inspired by her personal life and Taylor revealed that the songs from “Speak Now” was about a specific person and or event.
The 5th track “Dear John” is rumored to be her song to John Mayer. The two were romantically involved in 2009 while collaborating on ‘Half of My Heart,’ a track from John Mayer‘s last album.
Based on lyrics from Swift’s new song “Dear John,” off her forthcoming “Speak Now,” the chorus of the song reveals the pair’s romance that ended badly when John Mayer broke her heart.
Dear John Lyrics
“Dear John
I see it all now that you’re gone
Don’t you think I was too young
To be messed with
The girl in the dress
Cried the whole way home
I should’ve known.
It was wrong
Don’t you think nineteen’s too young
To be played
By your dark, twisted games
When I loved you so.
My mother accused me of losing my mind
But I swore I was fine
You’ll add my name to your long list of traitors
Who don’t understand
And I’ll look back in regret
I ignored what they said ‘Run as fast as you can.”
