The 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck on Monday, October 25, 2010 in the Mentawai Islands area west of Sumatra, Indonesia, was followed by a killer Tsunami and Volcanic eruption.
The quake generates waves as high as 10 feet and swept away 10 villages. At least 112 people were killed and 502 people have gone missing. Children were swept away and a lot of people are crying. Officials said the waters swept as far as 600 metres inland on South Pagai island, the hardest hit.

Meanwhile, less than 24 hours after Monday’s tsunami struck, Indonesia’s most active volcano Mount Merapi erupted three times, causing thousands to flee in panic and claiming the lives of 13 people.
The fault that caused the twin disaster in Indonesia was also the same fault that caused the 2004 quake and killer tsunami that killed 230,000 people in a dozen countries.
Indonesia is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire, a location that is prone to earthquakes and volcanic activity.
