James Cameron, the maker of successful sequels of “Aliens,” and “The Terminator” is planning to make two “Avatar” sequels. 20th Century Fox announced that James Cameron will start writing the scripts for two “Avatar” sequels, hoping for the production to begin in late 2011.
The studio plans to release the second movie of Avatar in December 2014 and the third in December 2015.
“We had no higher priority, and can feel no greater joy, than enabling Jim to continue and expand his vision of the world of ‘Avatar.’ Fox Filmed Entertainment Chairmen Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman said in a joint statement.

Avatar is the number 1 movie at the box office worldwide with $2.8 billion beating another James Cameron movie “Titanic” which slides down to number 2.
According to reports, James Cameron plans to set some of the action of Avatar sequels in Pandora’s oceans.
“In the second and third films, which will be self-contained stories that also fulfill a greater story arc, we will not back off the throttle of `Avatar’s’ visual and emotional horsepower, and will continue to explore its themes and characters, which touched the hearts of audiences in all cultures around the world,” Cameron said.
