Anuradha Koirala, a Nepalese woman fighting sex slavery was named 2010 CNN Hero of the Year. She was awarded $100,000 for her organization called Maiti Nepal.
The public voted in an online poll on CNN.com for Anuradha Koirala who have rescued and rehabilitate more than 12,000 victims from Nepal’s sex trafficking business through her group, Maiti Nepal since 1993.

Each of the finalists for the Top 10 CNN Heroes for 2010 also received $10,000 each.
The 33 Chilean Miners and their five rescuers appeared on the opening of the show to sing the Chilean National Anthem. Bon Jovi, Sugarland, and John Legend also performed.
In 2009, Filipino Efren Peñaflorida was named CNN Hero of the Year for his mobile classrooms that bring education to poor children in the Philippines.
