The schedule for 2011 Philippine Holidays will have fewer long weekends as P-NOY placed the observance of next year’s Philippine Holidays back to its original dates.
He will no longer use the holiday economics law that was used by the previous administration. Former President Gloria Arroyo moved the holidays to the nearest Mondays to boost local tourism and gives more family bonding time.
The use of the original dates for next year’s Philippine Holidays will also avoid confusions over holiday declarations. It will also be good for business groups because this also means less paid holidays and overtime pay.
There are still long weekends next year despite the administration’s decision on not using holiday economics. For 2011, there will be three long weekends: Maundy Thursday – April 21, Good Friday – April 22, and Rizal Day – December 30 (Friday).
Students will have another long weekend because of EDSA Revolution Anniversary on February 25 (Friday), the date has been declared a special holiday for all schools.

waah..anoiying..I prefer to have the holiday economics..It is non-sense to have holiday in between working days.i salute PGMA for having a bright mind, to think of having holiday economics..I boo P-Noy, bobo kasi.
this of course is from a man with no wife and children… holiday economics is not only about boosting tourism but more on professing more quality time for parents with their children..this is just one of the reasons why i did NOT voted for this dumb ass!
i say.. go
away BOBO!
and still say..
go G1BO!
For me, I guess as long as there’s a time to be with family or children, is enough than nothing at all. Let us not all work and no time for leisure. There’s should be a time to think about what the event/ person’s impact on our lives…what we can do for our future.
“why i did NOT VOTED” — check your grammar dislikesnoynoy… who’s bobo now?
how about the holiday that falls on saturday/sunday????
i think ginawa lang yan ni noynoy just to build an image na iba sya kay MS. ARROYO..how pathetic….well hindi naman sya magiging Mr. President kung hindi kilala ang Mother and Father nya..well…ganun tlga sa Pilipinas…
ok na sakin to… 2 days a week that your free is good enough para makasama ang pamilya. kayo ba nung nag hanap ng trabaho kailangan nyo talaga ng trabaho o holiday for your family? abay kung gusto nyo ng mahabang oras sa pamilya wag nalang kayo magtrabaho…
Dec 2011 holidays sucks. Pnoy also sucks… He shoud have use the holiday economics.. What about those who have work during Saturdays? Dec 24. Esp Nurses… Parang walnf Pasko this Dec kasalanan to ni Pnoy palibhasa oldmade sya.. Nakakabwesit lang….
Sana kahit isa lang bet dec, 24, dec 26, or jan 2 ginawa nyang holiday…. Pnoy do you know that some people work on Saturdays? Hopefully mabasa mo to…Ang KJ naman ng Presidenting to… Oldmade kasi…..
