Before Christmas, Shane Mosley and Manny Pacquiao will cement the deal for their upcoming welterweight 12 rounder fight where Manny Pacquiao is the current WBO Super Champion. Pacquiao vs. Mosley will be held on May 7, 2011 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Shane Mosley has agreed to everything with only the final paperwork to close the deal.
Shane Mosley was chosen to fight Pacquiao because of Mosley’s starpower. Mosley is better known than the other two candidates, which included Juan Manuel Marquez and Andre Berto. Bob Arum said Pacquiao liked Mosley and he deserved to be his foe in the welterweight bout because he is famous and he can generate more pay-per-view buys because of his bigger fan base.
Mosley wanted this fight for a long time and he believes that he still have the power and speed to knock out Pacquiao because he’s bigger than and he promised to hit him on the chin at some point.
Arum thinks that even if Shane Mosley, 39, is getting a little older, his skill and speed will still challenge Manny Pacquiao, 32.
A press conference in January will be held Pacquiao vs. Mosleybout in the US followed by a four-city media tour in February in the following cities: Los Angeles, New York, Washington and San Francisco.
The tickets for Pacquiao vs. Mosley fight in Las Vegas would become available next month.
