Teresa Scanlan, a 17-year-old Miss Nebraska titleholder wins in the Miss America 2011 pageant on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011. The Miss America 2011 pageant was held at the Theater for the Performing Arts at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, broadcasted live on ABC television network.

She will receive a a $50,000 scholarship to the institution of her choice and will enjoy the title of Miss America for one year. The Miss America organization is the world’s leading provider of scholarship for young women.
Teresa Scanlan, a recent graduate of Scottsbluff High School whose talent is playing the piano, wants to attend law school, become a judge and eventually a politician.
Her piano performance of “White Water Chopped Sticks,” named her as the Talent winner on Thursday night’s preliminary where she received $2,000 scholarship.

Teresa Scanlan bested other 52 contestants from all over the United States. She is the youngest Miss America winner since Miss America 1921 Margaret Gorman. Gorman was only 15 when she won the first Miss America title.
Miss America 2011 1st runner-up is Miss Arkansan Alyse Eady, she won $25,000.
The Miss America 2011 edition was also the 90th anniversary of the Miss America pageant.
