Heidi, the two-and-a-half year old cross-eyed opossum is on a strict diet, Reuters reports.
According to a Leipzig Zoo spokeswoman, Heidi has been on a steady diet of lettuce, carrots and lean chicken since she arrived on the Zoo last May.
It is believed that Heidi got her crossed eyes due to her being overweight, fat deposits can be seen behind her eyes. They hoped Heidi’s diet could help her eyes turn back to normal.

Heidi was found as an orphan together with her sister Naira, they were originally raised in North Carolina wild animal sanctuary. The opposums arrived at Germany’s Leipzig Zoo from Denmark’s Odense Zoo on May 5, 2010.
The white-haired opossum became famous after German newspaper Bild published a photo of Heidi, it went viral because of her cross-eyed condition.
She even got a Facebook page and a hit song titled Opossum Heidi Schielt (“Opossum Heidi Peers”). She recently received an offer to appear at the Oscars in February but the zoo has no intention of marketing Heidi.

yuck! too much fats on her eyes!
