Chinese magician Fu Yandong faces controversy over his magic fish trick that wowed Chinese audiences two weeks ago.
Fu Yandong performed a magic fish trick to millions of viewers on China’s most watched programme of the year, CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala, a New Year’s Eve special.
The said trick involves six fish that amazingly swim together in the same direction at Fu’s command, just like synchronized swimmers.
But animal rights group are not happy with Mr. Fu’s stunt saying that his magic fish trick involves feeding the fish with magnets which can harm the fish.

Fu Yandong denied the accusations saying that the fish were not harmed. In an interview, he said that the fish would stick together if he used magnets. The magician has declined to reveal the secret of his magic trick.
But his explanation did not satisfy his critics. Animal activists demanded TV stations to drop Fu’s future act.
Fu was scheduled to repeat his magic fish trick on CCTV’s Lantern Festival special on Thursday, but due to the controversy his performance was canceled.
But Fu will still appear on Hunan Television’s Lantern Festival special to perform his magic fish trick.
