Kamofie & Company., the jewelry store accusing Lindsay Lohan of stealing a diamond necklace worth $2,500, is going to auction the said necklace for charity.
Kamofie spokesman Christopher Spencer announced on TMZ, “We have decided to sell the diamond necklace through auction, and give the proceeds to charity.”
“We invite the public to make suggestions as to the most appropriate charity to receive the benefit of the sale’s proceeds.”
The necklace remains in the custody of L.A. County District Attorney’s office to serve as evidence against Lohan, who has pleaded not guilty to felony grand theft.
The auction will start after the criminal case of Lohan is resolved, according to the spokesman.
Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan is planning to sue Kamofie & Company for selling the surveillance footage, showing her inside the boutique. Sources close to Lohan said that she insists that the jewelry store is using her image for profit.
The 42-minute surveillance video was sold to The Associated Press for $40,000, according to TMZ’s source. “Entertainment Tonight” and its sister show “The Insider,” got exclusive rights to air the tape for one week that showed clips of Lohan trying on several jewelry.
The footage shows Lohan trying on three necklaces before putting on the $2,500 diamond necklace that was allegedly stolen. The clerk even smiled and opened the door for Lindsay and her male companion when they walked out of the jewelry store.

The store later reported that the necklace was stolen. Police prepared a search warrant for LiLo’s home, but the necklace was returned by LiLo’s stylist to LAPD before the search was conducted.
According to several entertainment sites, Lohan’s defense is that the necklace was loaned to her and the stylist forgot to return it on time.
