Sathya Sai Baba also known as the Indian Living God died on Sunday morning, a time where many Catholics celebrate Easter Sunday – the resurrection of Jesus. He was 86.
“Sri Sathya Sai Baba is no more with us. He left his physical body at 7.40 a.m. April 24, 2011 due to cardio-respiratory failure,” said a statement from the hospital.
Sathya Sai Baba has been suffering with multiple-organ failure. He breaths with a ventilator and is receiving kidney dialysis since being admitted to the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, near his ashram in Puttaparti village in Andhra Pradesh state on March 28.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy announce a four-day state mourning and the spiritual guru’s last rites will be performed Wednesday with full state honours.
Thousands of devotees from around the world including dignitaries are expected to pay last respects to Sai Baba, prompting tight security at Bangalore airport.
Sai Baba considered as a Holy Man by many became famous for his miracles and charitable works. His devotees include Presidents, prime ministers from India, top businessmen, and bollywood celebrities.
