Windows shaking, roofs flying, cars flipped, and buildings shaking. This is what happened in Tuscaloosa, Alabama when a deadly tornado hit the southern United States on Wednesday, April 27, 2011.
According to reports, the deadly tornado killed 172 people across South including 128 in Alabama – the hardest hit. Officials said they expect the death toll may rise.
The tornado hit Tuscaloosa about 5 p.m. It created massive damage, the city was dark due to downed power lines.
President Barack Obama has declared a state of emergency in Alabama. National Guard soldiers were being deployed around the state.
