Curious people will never see the photos of a dead Osama bin Laden because the decision has been made not to release the photo. Obama blocked the release of the photos saying that the images Osama bin Laden’s dead body would only provoke additional violence.
“I think that given the graphic nature of these photos, it would create some national security risk,” Obama said in an interview taped for CBS’ “60 Minutes.”
It is important for us to make sure that very graphic photos of somebody who was shot in the head are not floating around as an incitement to additional violence. As a propaganda tool,” the president added.
According to reports, Osama bin Laden’s dead body was identified by several means, including a DNA test. A sample from the dead body of Osama bin Laden was compared to known DNA from bin Laden’s mother and three sons.
“There’s no doubt that Bin Laden is dead,” Obama said. “And so we don’t think that a photograph in and of itself is going to make any difference. There are going be some folks who deny it. The fact of the matter is, you will not see bin Laden walking on this earth again.”
Nonbelievers of Osama bin Laden’s death won’t be convinced anyway. In the age of photoshop, some people also feels that it’s not necessary to release the photos of Osama bin Laden’s dead body.
