The 16th-century Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Trivandrum, India is going to overtake the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple ($7.14 billion) as World’s Wealthiest Temple, the discovery inside its chambers recently revealed treasures worth $22 billion with its 6th chamber still unopened.
The Hindu temple, located in the Indian state of Kerala, was built hundreds of years ago by the king of Travancore to honor Lord Vishnu, The lord of peace and truth in Hinduism. The treasures found inside were donations by devotees and offerings placed by the rulers.

According to reports, authorities unearthed thousands of gold coins, precious gems, gold and silver jewelry, an 18 feet gold chains, solid-gold human figurines and idols, and silver and gold bars. These treasures have been inside the vault of the temple for more than one hundred years.
The Supreme Court of India ordered authorities to open the secret chambers for inventory after a lawyer, Sundar Rajan, filed a case in the Kerala High Court alleging that the trust managed by descendants of the Travancore royal family is incapable of securing the wealth of the temple because of not having its own security force. The Kerala High Court ordered that the temple be managed by the state to ensure the security of the temple but the Supreme Court of India set aside the ruling.
The temple has 6 vaults, but the opening of the 6th vault has been postponed after the team discovered an iron wall after opening it’s outer door, making experts more curious what’s inside it. The decision to open the 6th vault would be taken on Friday, reports said, as the team needs more expert opinions before opening it.

It is nothing serious that you find treasure in ancient temples. After all the jewelleries, cash are the offerings made by many people including Kings, to God over centuries If only such treasures are found in a single person’s custody it becomes a point to suspect.It is quite natural that many religious funds are accumulated over a period of time, be it Hindus, Muslims,Christians,Parsis,Sikhs and so on so forth.
All the religion have funds and jewels in the same manner.
It should be safeguarded properly and not allowed to be handled by politiicians. Why not they conduct search in Muslim dargas,in Golden Temple Amritsar
where are the photos of the treasures of gold, jewels, coins, art, jewelry, statues? The whole world is anxious to look at this beauty.
Now we know why Somnath temple in Gujarat, India, was brutally attacked and ransacked in 1024 by Ghazni Mohammad and attacks to Somnath were repeated in history. Many temples lost their wealth due to similar brutal attacks by invaders from mideast. A museum should be made with art and photos of most of these artifacts, and there should be an annual event featuring the Travancore Royal family, the temple priests and their assistants. Proceeds should be given to the poor.
Royal family, temple priests and the politicians are NOT educated in handling finances and valuables. This treasure should be administered by a bank.
The treasure which was safeguarded by the royal family is very much appreciated and it should be continued by the same people. Because they knew how to manage it. However, the treasure should be utilized for the purpose of Hinduism research and development (Vaishnavisme); orphanage and old-folk management; and also for the purpose of development and management of the temple itself. Don’t ever let the government people involve in it. It is amazing to see the level of integrity of the royal family who had kept the secret all along. Credit should be awarded to them for protecting the treasure from the colonialist. It is not fair for anybody to blame or condemn the royal family. Along with that the Indian government and Kerala state government should obey the rules and regulation(as stated in Indian Constitution) granted to the Kerala royal family.
