The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 has been voted as the World’s Worst Airport for 2011 by an airport review website, “The Guide to Sleeping in Airports.”
NAIA terminal 1 was ranked the 5th worst airport in the world and Asia’s worst airport last year by the travel website, now it claimed the top spot.
According to the website, NAIA Terminal 1 is in bad shape and noted that a ceiling at Terminal 1 caved in and that the cleaner and spacious Terminal 3 was reportedly “structurally flawed”.
“Forget about sleeping in this airport! You will not want to even close your eyes here! Bribery and theft exists. Airport taxes are collected, but the money does not seem to go towards the betterment of the airport. Document holders have been told their papers are not correct, but a fee of x amount should clear up the matter,” the travel site said.
The site also said that airport officials had to promise to clean the toilets and provide running water in Terminal 1 after it was given a bad press earlier this year.
“The terminals are lacking services such as left luggage and pay-in lounges for transit passengers,” the website added.
However, The Guide to Sleeping in Airports said that NAIA has one big plus point, the free WiFi.
Reviewers for the site have also shared their worst experiences in NAIA, from losing their cellphones to pickpockets to concession stand selling reused bottled drinking water. One reviewer even advised foreign travelers to avoid NAIA.

ILOILO AIRPORT must have international flights, coz compare to NAIA TERMINAL 1, ILOILO AIRPORT has better structure and security system.

It's an eye opener to all and hoping the Aquino administration should focus on this matter seriously.

NAIA 2 & 3 are still usable how about using terminal 3 for international flights insted of demostic and put them in terminal 2.

its very hard to grasp even though that you know people (esp. the present administration) can do something about this. rather than primarily focusing on the past administrations wrong doings, they should take in consideration that the airport is the first step in achieving tourism in our country.

what do you expect in the philippines..hehe
NAIA 1 deserves all its bad reputation. Lack to proper toilet facilities, no escalators, lax security, baggage retrieval is pure chaos, too many people hovering around you, crooked taxi drivers/airport personnel, no airconditioning, loud noise, too many people, etc. etc. It’s the airport from hell!! I’d seen ‘em all, but this airport has got to be the worst!!!!
