Brandy and Monica, who last collaborated on the 1998 Grammy Award-Winning Hit Single “The Boy Is Mine” are back with a new song, called “It All Belongs To Me.”
In the single “It All Belongs To Me,” the duo are no longer fighting over the love of the same man like they did in “The Boy Is Mine,” but instead they joined forces to claim their belongings as they leave their abusive boyfriends behind.
Monica and Brandy first worked together in 1998, on their massive hit “The Boy is Mine” which won many prestigious awards including the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group.
“It All Belongs To Me” appears on Monica’s seventh studio album entitled “New Life” and Brandy’s sixth studio album called Two Eleven.
“Monica and I have a bond as women and as mothers, working with her doesn’t feel like work. Chris Robinson directed the video and we’re both in dysfunctional relationships. We’re helping each other through both situations, it’s sort of like a ‘Thelma & Louise,’ girl empowerment video,” Brandy said in an interview with Rolling Stone
“It All Belongs To Me” is written and produced by Rico Love. The video is directed by Grammy award-winner Chris Robinson.
