Manny Pacquiao arrives at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Tuesday, June 5, 2012 for his welterweight title fight on June 9, 2012 Saturday (Sunday morning in Manila) against undefeated boxer Timothy Bradley Jr.
Fans of the Filipino boxing superstar chant his name as he formally arrives at the MGM Grand for interviews with the press and for Saturday’s showdown when he will defend his welterweight title. Pacquiao said they will give the fans a good fight.
Meanwhile, American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez will sing the US national anthem in the megafight. Jessica was the first American Idol contestant with Filipino roots who made it to the Top Two of the singing competition.
Fil-Am singer Kirby Asunto, 14, will sing the Philippine national anthem. She was personally chosen by Manny to sing “Lupang Hinirang.”
