$1.3 MILLION UTILITY BILL – ENORMOUS ELECTRICAL BILL SHOCKS TEXAS WOMAN

A $1.3 million utility bill shocked a Texas woman who normally pay $100 or so for her monthly electrical bill.

Reports said that Kristin Harriger discovered that she owed her energy provider Potentia Energy a whopping $1,381,783.92 when she opened up her mail.

Business Insider reports that Harriger took photos of the bill using her phone and sent it to her friends and immediatley called Potentia Energy.

“I work on a budget. I’m a single mom with an autistic child who tries to make ends meet,” she told Business Insider. “I get my bills and I pay them.”

“I’m glad I didn’t have autopayments set up, I’ll tell you that,” she said.

The company admitted that it was a computing error or human error that charged her 100,000 cents ($1,000) per kilowatt hour instead of the usual $0.09 per kilowatt hour and promised that they will mail her corrected bill immediately.

I’m just glad I opened the bill and not my father, who has a heart condition,” Abilene Reporter-News quoted her as saying.
