TOM CRUISE AND KATIE HOLMES DIVORCE – SCIENTOLOGY RELIGION BECAME AN ISSUE, REPORT SAYS

Bombshell news from Hollywood! Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ fairy tale marriage was over. Holmes, who had dreamed of marrying Cruise since she was a young girl, is now divorcing Cruise, her husband of over five years.

Cruise, who famously jumped on a couch during an appearance on “Oprah” to declare his love for Holmes, was reportedly blindsided about the divorce wherein Holmes wants sole custody of their 6-year-old daughter, Suri Cruise.

According to TMZ, Katie Holmes filed for divorce due to Cruise’s strong ties to Scientology, fearing that Cruise would drag Suri deep into the religion. Suri is reportedly at an age where Scientology is set to play a bigger role in her life, and Holmes doesn’t want Cruise to control decisions relating to her religious beliefs.

The pending divorce which was first reported by People was confirmed by Cruise’s publicist, Amanda Lundberg.

His representative said in a statement: “Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy.”

Holmes’ attorney, Jonathan Wolfe, described the issue “a personal and private matter for Katie and her family.”

“Katie’s primary concern remains, as it has always been, her daughter’s best interest,” Wolfe said in a statement.

Their marriage was Holmes’ first and the third for Cruise, who’d earlier been married to actresses Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman. He had two adopted children from his marriage with Kidman.
