MERMAIDS DON’T EXIST – US GOVERNMENT SAYS ‘No evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found’

The US government has released a strange statement on June 27 declaring that mermaids don’t exist via The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s official website after they received calls from confused viewers of Animal Planet’s fictional show called “Mermaids: The Body Found.”

The unusual post found under the Ocean Facts section of NOAA website lead people to think that the US government have something to hide. But according to reports, the article was just a response to public inquiries that may have mistaken the science fiction program “Mermaids: The Body Found” as a documentary.

Putting theories to rest, the agency wrote: “No evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found.”

The belief in mermaids may have arisen at the very dawn of our species. Magical female figures first appear in cave paintings in the late Paleolithic (Stone Age) period some 30,000 years ago, when modern humans gained dominion over the land and, presumably, began to sail the seas. Half-human creatures, called chimeras, also abound in mythology — in addition to mermaids, there were wise centaurs, wild satyrs, and frightful minotaurs, to name but a few. But are mermaids real? No evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found.

The show “Mermaids: The Body Found” which is described as a “science fiction based on some real events and scientific theory” and “paints a wildly convincing picture of the existence of mermaids, what they may look like, and why they’ve stayed hidden…until now,” seemed to convinced viewers that mermaids were real with its documentary style.
