Honoring the world of sports, the 2012 ESPY Awards handed out trophies for top athletes this year on Wednesday at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, where Lebron James and his team Miami Heat scored big.
James, who won his first NBA title this year with the Miami Heat, wins 3 leading awards at ESPY. He was honored with Best Male Athlete, Best Championship Performance, and Best NBA Player awards.
He wasn’t on hand to accept the awards because he was in Las Vegas with the rest of the U.S. national team preparing for the 2012 London Olympics. He appeared via satellite hookup for the show held by sports cable TV network ESPN.
Miami Heat were honored with the Best Team Award for winning the NBA title over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Juwan Howard and Mike Miller accepted for the Heat.
Meanwhile, this year for sports was also memorable with New York Knicks basketball player Jeremy Lin, who added a little bit of “Linsanity” in ESPY for winning the Breakthrough Athlete of the Year.
