The woman who committed suicide inside the LRT-1 EDSA-Taft station has been identified.
According to reports, it was Lucy Aroma, 52, a resident of Pasay, single and jobless, who jumped in front of the incoming train inside the LRT-1 EDSA- Taft station in Pasay City shortly before 6am, Thusday. Jose Aroma, the woman’s brother confirmed that it was his sister after seeing the body in Funenaria Rizal in Libertad, Pasay.
Lucy immediately died from severe head injury after she jumped and kneeled while holding the tracks as the train arrives, the station’s CCTV footage showed.
Because of the incident, LRT 1 operation was affected and resumed at around 9:40 am.Police Officer 3 Rodolfo Suquina of the Pasay PNP criminal investigation division told ABS-CBN news that the LRT train’s driver will be facing criminal charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide although it may have been a suicide.
LRTA Corporate Board secretary and spokesperson Atty. Hernando T. Cabrera told ABS-CBN news on Thursday that he does not know why police will charge the driver.
It was the 10th death by suicide inside LRT-1 since its installation in 1984, he added.
A day after the incident affected its operations, LRT-1 doubled its security.
Security personnel also said that they have become more observant especially to those who intend to get near the tracks as a train approaches, and made sure that passengers stayed away farther from the yellow lane.

Now that’s one stupid investigator. Why charged the LRT train’s driver of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide since the poor driver has no way to stop the train on time. It’s a train not a car…Moron!!!
