Victims of Hurricane Isaac will be receiving support as Western Union Company announces a series of disaster relief assistance today.
The Western Union Company will be setting up a no-fee payments contribution account in the U.S. where the American Red Cross will benefit.
U.S. donors can contribute to the relief effort up to USD$5,000 directed to the account by making a no-fee Payments transaction at retail Western Union Agent locations through the month of September.
Donors will need to complete the Western Union blue Payments form, using the company name “American Red Cross” or the code city, “REDCROSS DC.” Please write in, “Hurricane Relief” as the account number, the company said in a news release.
The Western Union Foundation also announces that it will match the employee donations to the American Red Cross and other qualifying non-profit organization on a one-for-one basis through the Western Union Employee Gift Matching Program.
Luella Chavez D’Angelo, senior vice president of Western Union Social Ventures and president of Western Union Foundation said,
“The damage attributed to Hurricane Isaac has left thousands in need of support. Funds collected through the Western Union Payments account will help the American Red Cross assist with critical efforts such as providing food, water and shelter to families and children most affected by the storm.”
“We are committed to helping the communities we serve and join the people of the Gulf Coast during this time of need,” Chavez D’Angelo concluded.
