London’s Clock Tower that houses the famous “Big Ben,” was officially renamed “Elizabeth Tower” on Wednesday to mark the Queen’s 60 years on the British throne.
House of Commons Speaker John Bercow unveiled a new name plaque designating the structure the Elizabeth Tower during the formal ceremony.

The proposal to rename the Clock Tower Elizabeth Tower was backed by politicians in recognition of Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
However, the structure that houses the four clock faces and the Big Ben bell is famously called the “Big Ben” as a whole, and according to media reports, tourists and many Britons were not happy about the name change.
